I suppose I was pretty much destined to end up in the beautiful county of Yorkshire after marrying a Yorkshire lad almost 30 years ago. And so here I am, all the way down from Inverness in the Highlands.

As a celebrant for almost nine years now and with over 1400 ceremonies to date, I have chalked up a lot of experience so please just get in touch and let me know how I can help you.

As an English graduate and writer, I worked in senior roles in education for 17 years, most recently as a secondary Headteacher, so I’m a highly confident organiser and public speaker. In some of the spare time I have, I’ve enjoyed volunteering in organisations as diverse as the Prison Service, the Durrell Wildlife Trust, and the Samaritans. I love writing fiction; I adore travelling and have been fortunate to travel to many different countries around the world to see and experience. Most of all, though, I’m at my happiest when spending time with my family, most of whom have also relocated to Yorkshire.
The question I'm most often asked is why I chose to become a celebrant, and the answer to that is really easy. I didn't know such a thing existed until I moved to New Zealand in 2010 and what I saw there was a real eye-opener. Celebrants in the UK are much more common nowadays as people realise that celebrations need to keep the individuals concerned at the very heart of them. So, when I came back from New Zealand six years later, I retrained as a celebrant. I then completed further training and in 2021 was Ordained as an Interfaith Minister with OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation.
I adore my job, although that little three letter word doesn’t come close to how I feel about conducting ceremonies as it’s become such a big part of my life. Whatever kind of ceremony I’m conducting, I give my wholehearted attention to your needs because, as the expression duly states – you only get one chance to get it right!
